The Blizzards

The Blizzards came into being over the festive season of 2003. Four school friends (+1) put their heads together and delivered a unique and energetic parcel to their hometown of Mullingar.

Packed follow-up shows at Voodoo, The Hub, Issac Butt's, Eamon Doran's and around the country, later proved that The Blizzards were a band not just for Christmas.

Harnessing the patina of ska, reggae and punk, their upbeat and melodic songs form a cohesive and addictive package. Consisting of Niall Breslin (lead vocals, keyboards, guitar), Aidan Lynch (guitar, keyboard), Justin Ryan (lead guitar, vocals), and Declan Murphy (drums), The Blizzards do not promise to change your life, but they do offer an antidote to the over serious angst-ridden mewling currently residing in the alternative scene.

What with recently performing live tracks on Spin 103.8 FRM and entertaining the freshly graduated medics of Trinity College, the boys are steadily quenching their thrist to bring their genre hopping eclecticism to the masses.

Turning their van wheels in the direction of Glasgow, the boys are to set up residency in a state of the art recording studio, right next door to Arab Straps' and Mogwai home at Chemikal Underground Records. The resulting album, due for release towards the end of the year, will be the second recording available from the boys as the 4 track, limited edition War of Words ep was released at Easter.

The Rolling Stones could only sing about being happy, The Blizzards are happy to the core, a band that, in these times of designer melancholia and tedious musical grief, are a reminder that the finer things in life come in joyful bundles...
R. Casey, The Examiner.

...The Irish Madness!!...
Ian Meleady, Turn.
