Coscán

Appearing at Le Cheile 2004, this Slane group continues to rejuvenate the popularity of Traditional music. Blended with Ballads and Folk songs, creating a large following of all ages along the East Coast, Dublin and Midlands. Having recently played at the Scurlogstown Olympiad Festival and the Tara Solstice Festival, Coscán are rapidly gaining recognition as one of Ireland's premier Trad and Ballad groups.

The experienced line-up of David Nevin, Harry Long, John Shankey and Gerry Doggett, have captivated audiences with their highly charged mixture of strong rhythm and music.

Encapsulating this rhythm, Coscán have just recorded their first album of music and song, which is due to be released shortly. Included are songs and tunes written by both Harry Long and David Nevin. These include the set called "San Patricios" and "Hugo's Jig" which is now a regular feature ion the band's play list. Also included is the evocative love song penned by Harry, called "Tóraíocht", telling the tale of Diarmud and Gráinne and their ill-fated union on Tara.

These and many more can be heard at this year's Le Cheile at Oldcastle on Saturday night, 31st July, when Coscán bring their music to this exciting festival.

Coscán will be playing on Saturday 31st July at 10:30 pm in Crean's
